Faceless Ventures are synonymous with scare, branching out into immersive theatre and the extreme side of the industry. When I heard that EVAC (a combination between traditional scare attraction, immersive theatre and escape room) was coming back I just had to experience it myself having missed out on the original incarnation. Thank you to Faceless Ventures for inviting Scare Directory down for a visit.

EVAC took place at the National Emergency Services Museum is Sheffield. This venue is perfectly suited to an event like this. The venue is full of history, winding corridors and dark corners.

The beginning of the attraction was fun with great use of the vehicles at the rear of building, setting the scene and providing enough backstory to understand what was happening.

The actors were on top form with a mixture of storytelling, jump scares and creepyness. The escape room elements worked well and gave an interesting departure from the more traditional scare maze. I also liked that while the route was linear you were not confined to tight corridors as the attraction used multiple rooms of the museum.

The standout scene for me was down near the cells where the lights flickered and changed along with a scripted section as I was surrounded by shape shifters. This felt genuinely creepy and added to the impact of scene.

I thoroughly enjoyed my journey through EVAC and my only criticism would be that I would have loved it to last a little longer as I got so engrossed in the story the time flew by and the attraction was over before I knew it.

Overall this was a brilliant return to the more traditional scare attraction for Faceless Ventures and I look forward to see what the future brings.

EVAC is over for now but Faceless Ventures are back soon with Unwrapped 19 so get your tickets before they are all gone.
